Working with Children Check

Parents and volunteers are encouraged to support St. Joseph’s Primary School and our students by volunteering their time to help in classrooms, school events, excursions, canteen and various other times as invited by the school.  In 2008, new State Legislation required volunteers working with children in Victoria to have a current Working with Children Check (WWC Check).
If you would like to volunteer your time at St. Joseph’s Primary School for any purpose/event, you will need a current Working with Children Check (WWCC), this is Victorian Government legislation.

Volunteer Induction

Anyone who is wanting to undertake volunteer work involving children at St Joseph's does need to undertake a Volunteer Induction and process.  This will be lead by appropriate staff.  Before volunteering a time will need to be arranged to go through and provide volunteers with:
  • access to, or a copy of, the school’s Child-Safe Policy and Code of Conduct information on the school policies and procedures
  • induction and, where relevant, training
  • copy of Responsibilities of Volunteer form
  • information about communication lines within the school
  • appropriate occupational health and safety protection
  • out-of-pocket cost reimbursement if applicable
  • suitable assignment
  • appropriate work area and equipment for the assignment.

This process takes about an hour and is necessary to support our commitment to Child Safety.

Please see the documents below and look at our Child Safety section of this website to get a greater sense of what in necessary in this process.
