St Joseph’s Primary School assists all students towards achieving ‘fullness of life’ including those with additional (diverse) learning needs. We have developed an Allied Services Team, which is led by our Learning Diversity Leader and includes a school employed Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and Pastoral Care Worker.
The Allied Service Team is able to provide support to staff, students and families through the process of identification and assessment of specific individual needs, development and implementation of support programs and regular review and evaluations of progress. Our school also has access to the Catholic Education Office Ballarat (CEOB) Support Services Staff including a Visiting teacher for the Vision and Hearing impaired, a Speech Pathologist and a Psychologist. The Allied Service Team also has access to local community support services and open communication with specialist medical practitioners. We recognise that home / school partnership with parents and caregivers is essential in supporting children with additional (diverse) learning needs.Parents / caregivers are included in the support framework for these students through regular Program Support Group Meetings (PSGs) where they meet with staff to develop and monitor Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) created collaboratively to support their children. St. Joseph’s Primary School assists all students, including students with additional learning needs. This includes the Program Support Groups (PSG) process at St. Joseph’s Primary School and access to support services including psychologist, speech pathologist, visiting teachers and health professionals. |
